Stephen's Funeral Home, Allentown

Vicki Lynne, Lin and I went to the Funeral Home to make arrangements and saw Mom one more time.

We plan to bury Mom and Dad's ashes in Westminster Cemetary some time this April.

Dear Friends of Victoria Murray:

It is also with great sadness that we inform you that our Mother, Victoria
J. Murray, passed away quietly in her sleep on the morning of January 1,
2004. She was 88 years old.

Dad and Mother celebrated 64 years of marriage in October. As you know, Dad
was then hospitalized and lived at the Phoebe Home where he died on December
3. One week later, Mom was transferred to the Phoebe Home. Early this week
she asked "What do I have to do to leave here?". She was refusing food and
water and her meds. At least she didn't suffer physically and now she is
back with Dad.

Rod:

I'm so very sad. But, clearly, Mom was thinking about how to 'get out of there' as she said to Jim when I briefly exited the room
on Sunday. To think that she died exactly 4 weeks after Dad is unbelieveable. At least now they're together again which is much
better.

Now we can have a dual burial. And, perhaps a second luncheon.

Visit to Mom at Phoebe Home

Vicki and Jim visited on Saturday. Lin, Sara and I visited her on Tuesday. At least we didn't have to wear masks this time. We wheeled her into the Solarium. She was quite shaky and weak. She wanted to go back to her room. We threw kisses. That was the last time we saw her alive.

Dad's Memorial Gathering at King's Tavern in Allentown

Dad's Memorial luncheon was very well attended. We had two tables with memoribilia including photos, Dad's two patents including the gyroscopic toy he invented.

I gave a eulogy while waiting for lunch, during which we read Dad's poetry: A_R_Murray_Poems.doc

Visit to see Mom at Phoebe on Christmas Eve

Vicki Lynne, Peter, Lin, Sara and I visited Mom at Phoebe on Christmas Eve day. Unfortunately, the flu quarantine was still on and we had to wear masks. Mom was very glad to see us. We wheeled her into the Solarium and gave her our gifts. She was alert but obviously losing weight and quite frail.

Just Talked to Mom

Talked to the Nurse, Kathy, who said Mom was in a wheel chair and did participate in therapy today. The increased Duragesic has made her more confused. They hope it will level out soon.

When I spoke with Mom, her speach was slurred. It was hard to talk to her -- she heard me but was often silent after I asked a question. Told Mom we would see her on Wednesday, Xmas Eve.

Phoebe plans to lift the flu quaranteen on Monday.
